LL.M. is an abbreviation of the Latin Legum Magister, which means Master of Laws. In Latin, the plural form of a word is abbreviated by repeating the letter. Hence, "LL." is short for "laws." Legum is the possessive plural form of the Latin word Lex, which means "specific laws", as opposed to the more general concept embodied in the word jus, from which the word juris and the modern English word "justice" are derived.
The LL.M. (Master of Laws) is an internationally recognized postgraduate law degree. An LL.M. is usually obtained by completing a one-year full-time program. Law students and professionals frequently pursue the LL.M. to gain expertise in a specialized field of law, for example in the area of Criminology, Constitutional law IPR, Business Law etc. To enable an understanding of the basic concepts and contemporary legal developments in the area of Constitutional and Administrative Law. To enhance advocacy and teaching skills. To assess and contribute to policy making/advocacy through fresh perspectives that arises out of the comparative study of the systems. 4. Ph.D. in Law
Ph.D. in Law is a three-year full-time doctoral program in the field of Law. The qualification for this program is the appropriate degree of Masters or M. Phil in law or law studies with a minimum of 55% in a degree passed from a recognized university. Ph.D. in Law involves research and teaching practice in the study of the Law. Ph.D. In-Law, it should not be confused with Juris Doctor, which is a level of expertise that prepares students for practice. Various research facilities are available for Ph.D. in the legal system, it includes international law, comparative law, human rights law, defense law, international environmental law, and much more.
